interview: caity says.

Caitlin from Caity Says

Tell us a little about yourself and your blog.
My name is Caitlin, but everyone calls me Caity. I’m a 21 year old South Australian (and proud) and work at a commercial property group, in charge of marketing, PR and events.. sounds boring but its actually really fun! My blog Caity Says is all about my personal style, whether it be clothes, accessories, travel style or even lifestyle; something not many people know about me is that I’m obsessed with homewares.
I’m a very visual person and therefore am finding style inspirations everywhere; that’s really why I started blogging in the first place – my friends were getting sick of me posting style pics on Facebook.

How did you first get into fashion and blogging?
My friend and I used to look at fashion blogs before school, I first fell in love with blogs while looking at Rumi’s photos on Fashion Toast. I started to follow more and more blogs, and now I look through about 100 posts a day! I love seeing other people’s personal style, its so different from what you see on the runway or in a magazine, people have such unique taste and I love exploring that.
I don’t remember when I got into fashion.. I’ve always cared about what I wore – even when I was little I remember hating jean, I much preferred leggings, I though jeans were hideous!

Where are some of your favourite places to shop?
Because I work 5 days a week 8:30 – 5:30 I tend to do a lot of my shopping online. My favourite places to window shop online are of course Net-a-Porter and Shopbop, but I also love ASOS (great on trend pieces at a reasonable price). I don’t have a particular set of shops that I always go to – I much prefer going digging through heaps of sites to find that perfect piece.
I’m very sporadic with where I shop, I love buying those cheaper ‘trend’ pieces from Zara, Dotti, Sportsgirl etc. but when it comes to staples I’m always willing to pay more for something I know will last, I recently splurged on a Rag & Bone jumper and a beautiful Acne sheer shirt.
In Adelaide, shops I love are Whistles, Sooki, and The New Guard. On a recent trip to Melbourne I fell in love with Green With Envy and Incu!

Which bloggers do you look up to and why?
I absolutely love Margaret Zhang from Shine By Three, she has such an amazing sense of style and comes up with some truly beautiful post. I really love and look up to the big Aussie bloggers such as Mandy from Oracle Fox, Zanita Morgan, Nicole from Garry pepper and Sara from Harper and Harley. They all have amazing taste and manage to stay ‘on trend’ yet still keep their unique style – I really admire that!

Phoebe from Diaries Of Bella wants to know: what your key trend-to-watch for next summer is?
This summer what I’ve loved is the mix of high and low. I don’t just mean the expensive designer piece with your bonds tee, what I’ve loved is when you see a beautiful brocade pencil skirt paired with a vintage sports tee. One of the things that I love about this look is its so easily translated into the cooler months, just pop on a great sweater and you’re ready to go for the next season. Mixing your casual clothes up with you ‘good’ clothes also means you’re getting more out of your wardrobe.. which is awesome!

What should we ask the next interviewee?
Favourite holiday destination, why, and what essentials they would pack, I love seeing what holiday essentials people choose for different destinations!
