interview: diaries of bella

Phoebe from Diaries Of Bella

Tell us a little about yourself and your blog.
I'm originally an Adelaide girl, now based in Sydney. I'm a lawyer by day and blogger by night! I'm an absolute fashion addict and adore being able to combine my loves for fashion and social media through my blog. Diaries of Bella is a website dedicated to the best fashion, beauty and lifestyle from both Australia and internationally. I started the site in 2011 and in 2012 was lucky enough to go to my first Fashion Week! And I'm really excited about some great developments on the site throughout this year, too.

How did you first get into fashion and blogging?
I started Diaries of Bella whilst living in Adelaide still. I attended a lot of social fashion events and did a LOT of shopping (both window and actual!) and decided that whilst these activities weren't actually hobbies as such, writing about them would be! Given my passion for fashion it seemed only right! Fast-forward to 2011 and Diaries of Bella was born, to showcase and share my love of fashion.

Where are some of your favourite places to shop?
In Sydney, I love Oxford and William Streets and The Intersection, Paddington. Add in the quirky and cute boutiques on and around Crown Street and they're my favorites. In Adelaide, I'm all about East Rundle Street - some seriously amazing designers moving into that precinct which is very exciting; a one-stop shopping Mecca for the fashion-minded!

I'm also a huge fan of online shopping - think The Iconic, She's Electric, Rock and Royal and Suede Online. The teams who run these online stores are super talented and always have plenty of great new looks. Rock and Royal is a relatively new site but definitely one to watch: it's a huge up-and-comer in my eyes!

Which bloggers do you look up to and why?
I look up to all sorts of bloggers. I recently was part of The Human Brochure Project in Canberra as one of Australia's top 500 influential social media users and met so many fantastic bloggers through that. They're all also such lovely people! From fashion to beauty and food bloggers, I have a wide range of those I adore and look up to. One in particular who I think is just fantastic is Zanita Morgan - i met her through a good friend of mine who is related to her and adore her work. she isn't just a pretty face though (being a model) but is also a blogger and photographer and has done amazingly well. I really admire what she has achieved.

What should we ask the next interviewee?
Caitlin Johns from Caity J Says is a great blogger and I adore her! Pick her! But definitely ask whoever it is what their key trend-to-watch for next summer is - after all, us girls want to be ahead of the fash pack...and who better to ask than another fashionista!

Romi from Romi Ya wants to know: What are they listening right now or their fav dessert?
At the moment I am absolutely cranking Thriftshop, and also a bit of "Beauty and a Beat" by Bieber - a little embarrassing I know, but great pump-up and work-out songs! Don't knock 'em til you've tried 'em. My fave dessert is one I had recently at Bar 100 at The Rocks - a chocolate ravioli dish, Italian-style. On a regular night, though, it would be far less exotic: just some berries and frozen yoghurt or a few pieces of quality dark chocolate from Lindt or Cadbury.
